Personal finance website WalletHub recently sorted through their mountain of data and compiled a list of the hardest working cities in the country, and out of the 116 largest US cities, several from Hampton Roads feature among the most industrious.
The 11 metrics used were split into two categories: direct work factors and indirect work factors. The heaviest weighted metrics were in the former, and include average workweek hours, employment rate, households where no adults work, engaged workers, and idle youth.
According to WalletHub, Virginia Beach is the 3rd hardest working city in the country, behind only Anchorage, Alaska and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Next-door neighbor Norfolk is the 8th hardest working city, with neighbor Chesapeake coming in at position 12 on the list.
