            The Flight of Katherine Fletcher is a romantic drama set during the gilded age. When suspected of a crime, Katherine Fletcher flees from New York to begin a new life in Philadelphia. She establishes a dinner theater with her new found family. Her world is thrown into upheaval when unsolicited affection, a handsome stranger and old connections enter the fray. With the past threatening her future, Kate struggles to keep her new life from being torn apart.

            Party on the Plaza returns to the Norfolk Scope Arena on Saturday, July 3! The second annual Party on the Plaza is poised to be the premiere concert of the summer, and the first hip-hop concert in the area in more than a year. The event will feature two powerhouse groups on one stage – The Diplomats and The Lox!

            Chalk the Walk Jul 16-18

            Saturday, July 10 – Chalk the Walk (On the boardwalk from 16th-18th Streets)

            Chalk the Walk takes over the Virginia Beach Boardwalk from 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021, as artists and “wanna-be artists” gather to turn the boardwalk into an impromptu canvas of color!

            The theme for this year’s Chalk the Walk is The Power of the Wind.

            All participants must register by 12:30pm to qualify for the competition. All drawings must be completed by 3:30pm to be eligible for prizes. Registration is free, and all participants should bring their own chalk.

            At Chalk the Walk, participants draw four by four-foot chalk drawings for three blocks along the boardwalk.

            Competitors will complete chalk drawings to be evaluated by a panel of judges. Judges will score the drawings according to criteria such as composition, use of color, adherence to theme, and creativity. There will be three competitive divisions: Amateur, Professional, and Youth. The Youth division will be for ages 12-16.

            Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded for each division. Winners will be announced at 4:45pm on the boardwalk at 17th Street.

            Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, is a hilarious re-imagining of what life might have been like for the non-celebrity students at a famous magical school in an alternate universe.

            This production is 90 minutes with no intermission.

            Critically acclaimed soulful crooner Allan Harris will be bringing his hit album Kate’s Soulfood on the road this summer! A collection of vignettes from his Sundays spent traveling from Brooklyn to Harlem as a child, Kate’s Soulfood is an expressive showcasing of Allan Harris’ proficiency in songwriting and love for a strong and lively community. Joining Harris is his long-standing, tight knit ensemble of contemporary musical greats including Arcoiris Sandoval on piano and keys, Marty Kenney on bass, Norman Edwards on drums and saxophonist Irwin Hall.

            Virtual on Demand will stream July 30 – August 13.

            JokingJoe & Friends Comedy Show Jul 23

            JokingJoe (born Joseph Johnson) is a local comic born in Norfolk, Virginia. JokingJoe began his comedy career in 2002 at the Virginia House of Comedy, working with the likes of Eddie Griffith, Mike Epps, Sommore, Adele Givens, Monique, Arnez J, Nephew Tommy, Tony Rock, and more. He’s performed at various night clubs and venues, including the Virginia Beach & Richmond Funnybone.

            JokingJoe is also a community activist in the City Of Norfolk. He has been giving back to the community for 10 years during Easter, Back to School Drives, giving away turkeys for Thanksgiving, toys for Christmas, and traveling to VA state prisons to give motivational speeches.
