The largest indoor ski facility in North America is likely coming to Virginia, after the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved plans for Fairfax Peak in Lorton.
Alpine-X would build the the facility, which would be 280 feet tall and include a ski shop, restaurants and dining terrace, as well as a hotel with over one hundred rooms. A gondola will lift skiers to the peak, while a gravity powered coaster will provide a second option to get back down the hill at high speed.
The project is expected to bring 1,300 jobs to the region.
