Rivers Casino Portsmouth to Break Ground on $65M Hotel Addition This Summer
Big changes are on the horizon for Rivers Casino Portsmouth. The casino recently announced plans to add a new hotel to its growing entertainment complex, with construction set to begin this summer. This $65 million investment, fully funded by Rivers Casino, is expected to expand the venue’s offerings and attract more overnight and weekend visitors to the area.
A Major Milestone for Portsmouth
The new addition, to be called The Landing Hotel Portsmouth, marks a significant step forward for the casino and the City of Portsmouth. Since opening in January 2023, Rivers Casino has quickly become a local attraction for gaming, dining, and live entertainment. The upcoming hotel is expected to further position the casino as a regional destination.
Scheduled for completion in early 2027, the project is not only an investment in tourism but also in the local economy. Developers estimate it will create around 200 construction jobs and add 60 permanent positions once operational.
What to Expect from The Landing Hotel
The Landing Hotel will feature:
106 guest rooms, including 32 suites and two super suites with indoor/outdoor spaces
A sleek lobby bar
Two executive boardrooms for private meetings and events
A sundries shop
Complimentary breakfast for guests
An enclosed walkway will connect the hotel directly to the existing Rivers Casino, offering seamless access to the Event Center, restaurants, and gaming floor.
Designed with Comfort and Style in Mind
Chicago-based KOO Architecture & Interiors, known for designing high-end hospitality projects, is leading the design of the new hotel. The project follows the model of other Rivers-branded hotels in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Schenectady, all of which are independently owned and operated under the Rush Street Gaming umbrella.
The Landing Hotel Portsmouth will be no exception, offering high-quality amenities and service with a focus on guest experience.
A Boost for the Local Economy
Beyond providing jobs, the new hotel is expected to drive more revenue for the city through increased hospitality taxes. It also supports the casino’s goal of growing its events and conference business by offering on-site lodging for out-of-town guests.
By extending the time people spend on-site, Rivers Casino hopes to enhance customer experience and contribute to the broader revitalization of Portsmouth.
Looking Ahead
The addition of The Landing Hotel is more than just an expansion—it’s a sign of confidence in Portsmouth’s future as an entertainment and tourism hub. With groundbreaking set for this summer, the project promises to deliver both short- and long-term benefits for the city and its residents.
Stay tuned for construction updates as Rivers Casino Portsmouth enters this exciting new chapter.
