After a three year absence, the region’s premier music festival is set to return to the beach in 2023.
Virginia Beach native Pharrell recently announced that Something In The Water is to once again bring top music acts to the city next year for the first time since the inaugural event in 2019.
That festival featured dozens of acts in a three day event that earned the city $1.2 million in tax revenue, meaning it earned a profit for tax payers in its first year. Over 35,000 tickets were sold, and the event had an economic impact for the region of $24 million. The festival returned in 2022 but was held in Washington, D.C.
The 2023 event is scheduled for April 28-30. City Council will be accepting comments from residents about the festival in coming weeks, and an official vote will take place on December 6. Meanwhile, both sides seem confident that the even will take place, and tickets went on sale on November 5. Later on the same day three-day VIP tickets for tiers 1 and 2 were already sold out. Discounted locals-only tickets are still available to residents of Virginia.
The lineup is yet to be announced, but those wishing to stay informed can use the form at the bottom of the linked page, or you can just stay tuned to The VBJ where we’ll keep you apprised of all future developments.
