We've got the water. You've got the Boat.
- Maddison Pace
We have a lot to explore by boat here, with our ocean and bay and a seemingly infinite collection of coves and inlets. So brush up on your knots and check out these spots.
Lynnhaven River
The inlet is broad, calm and shallow, and a great spot for fishing or lazily cruising around the coves checking out the neighborhoods. Broad Bay is a great place for new boaters to pootle about in sheltered water. Just inside the river/inlet/estuary you’ll find restaurants and seafood markets where you can get fuel and a bite to eat. Check out Dockside, Bubba’s, Chick’s, and Surf Rider Grill.
Chesapeake Bay
For the more adventurous there’s always the bay and its almost 200 miles of inlets coves and seaside towns to discover.
Rudee Inlet
Leave the bay rounding Cape Henry and pass its lighthouses, and motor south past the activity on the strip and you’ll come to Rudee Inlet. There’s a steady stream of stand up paddlers, jet skis, and pleasure boats going through, and inside you’ll find some great restaurants and sites, and even be able to tie up and walk to the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center.
