Suspects At Large After Failed Jewelry Store Break-In Leaves One Injured

Stay up to date with the latest.

Police say five or more suspects were involved in a Diamond District break-in last night that left one man in the hospital. Gabriel Duggan, 59, is in serious condition after he was shot once. He was on duty as a night security guard for the building and was filling in for another guard last night.

An anonymous 911 call was placed after midnight reporting the shooting, and police now believe the call was placed by the suspects themselves.

The suspects gained access to the store through the floor by first breaking into the offices located in one level below. The two businesses each suffered damages estimated in the thousands, but nothing has been reported missing.

There are no descriptions of the suspects available yet, but witnesses say they fled in a white panel van and a dark-colored Mercedes.
