The Best Cities for Those Who Served
Virginia Beach is one of the best cities for veterans in the United States, according to a recent study by personal finance site WalletHub.
Methodology
They determined the best places for veterans by conducting an analysis of the 100 most populated U.S. cities across four key dimensions: Employment, Economy, Quality of Life, and Health. Within these dimensions, 19 relevant metrics were used and appropriately weighted to reflect their significance in veterans’ lives. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a higher score indicating more favorable conditions for veterans. The city’s overall score was calculated as a weighted average across all metrics, leading to the final rankings.
The methodology considered only the “city proper” in each case, excluding surrounding cities in the metro area. The data sources for this analysis included the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. News & World Report, Yelp, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and WalletHub’s own research.
