Family-Friendly Landscapes
Virginia Beach is once again being called one of the best places in the country to raise a family.
According to a recent study by WalletHub, our coastal home has been recognized as one of the best cities for raising a family in 2024.
To compile their rankings of the best cities in the country for raising a family, WalletHub evaluated 182 U.S. cities across five key dimensions: Family Fun, Health & Safety, Education & Child Care, Affordability, and Socio-economics.
Within each dimension, WalletHub considered 45 relevant metrics, each graded on a 100-point scale. These metrics encompassed various aspects such as access to family-friendly amenities, healthcare quality, educational opportunities, cost of living, and socio-economic factors.
It’s worth noting that certain metrics were weighted differently to reflect their significance accurately.
Fremont, CA, emerges as the epitome of family-friendly living, boasting an impressive array of rankings in key categories. With a stellar Health & Safety rank at number 3 and an Education & Child Care rank clinching the top spot, Fremont sets the bar high for quality healthcare and educational opportunities. Furthermore, its Socio-economics rank of 1 underscores the city’s strong economic foundation and community support networks. Though its Family Fun rank may be comparatively lower at 78, Fremont’s commitment to providing a safe, nurturing environment for families remains unwavering. This eclectic blend of attributes solidifies Fremont’s status as a prime destination for families seeking a well-rounded and enriching lifestyle.
Virginia Beach claims 18th place in the rankings, this year. With a Family Fun rank of 141, the city may lack some of the amenities and recreational opportunities found in higher-ranked destinations. However, Virginia Beach excels in crucial aspects such as Health & Safety, where it secures the 9th position, ensuring families feel secure and well-cared-for. Additionally, its Socio-economics rank of 19 reflects a stable economic environment and robust support systems for families. While its Education & Child Care rank at 28 and Affordability rank at 38 indicate areas for improvement, Virginia Beach remains a desirable location for families seeking a balance between leisure, safety, and community support.
