The best places to watch fireworks on the 4th for 2019

The Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Virginia Beach will be hosting celebrations at the oceanfront from 8p to 10p at its 17th, 20th, 24th, and 31st street stages. Stroll up the beach and check out all the musical acts and everything else on offer. Fireworks start at 9:30.

Chesapeake City Park will be hosting fireworks at 9:15p, to go with music and art and kids’ entertainment.

The Peninsula

From Fort Monroe’s website: “This year, Fort Monroe will present a new twist on Fourth of July fireworks! Instead of a traditional aerial fireworks show, a 12 minute close proximity show will be launched from the top of the fortress wall at 9:15 pm. This show, presented by Pyrotecnico of New Castle, PA, will highlight the unique features of the stone fort. Close proximity fireworks offer a more entertaining show and use less space. They are intended to be viewed within a close distance so that the pyrotechnics can be seen from the ground up. The ideal location to view the fireworks is just north of Outlook Beach, along Fenwick Road from the East Gate to Stillwell Road.”

Norfolk: Town Point Park

Town Point Park hosts its yearly 4th festivities, including fireworks starting at 9:30.

Mount Trashmore

A favorite for kids, we all have a memory or two from this hill watching firewords over the city. They’ll start at 9:30. Parking is $10. Get there early, festivities begin at 4p.

From Your Boat

Don’t forget that you can enjoy the display from the water. Check your running lights and remember to not drink and boat!
