Less than a year after some of Virginia’s official ABC stores began delivering alcohol, the state legislature has made delivery of alcoholic beverages legal from restaurants as well.
The identical bills HB 1879 and SB 1299 were signed by Governor Northam last week, meaning restaurants and distillers can deliver drinks, and farm wineries can sell drinks to Virginians for consumption off-premises.
HB 1879 was sponsored by David L. Bulova, while SB 1299 was sponsored by John J. Bell.
The bills go into effect this year, meaning you can start ordering your drinks from your favorite restaurant beginning July 1.
