Coastal Bliss and Cannabis
As cannabis legalization continues to spread across the United States, more travelers are seeking destinations where they can relax and enjoy their favorite herb without fear of judgment or legal repercussions.
Now that there are so many options to choose from, how does one find the best 420-friendly vacation destination for them?
UpgradedPoints.com compared 50 of the largest American cities located in recreational states on how 420-friendly they were as a vacation destination.
For each city, the analysis tallied the total number of weed-friendly accommodations by utilizing listings data from Bud and Breakfast, a vacation rental platform catering specifically to cannabis enthusiasts, as well as Airbnb listings filtered for options allowing smoking and entire home rentals.
This approach enabled the identification of cities with the highest concentration of 420-friendly stays. To standardize the data across cities of varying population sizes, a normalization process was applied by calculating the number of 420-friendly stays per 100,000 residents using census population figures.
Furthermore, the average nightly price across these listings was calculated to determine the cities offering both the most and least expensive 420-friendly accommodations.
Boulder, CO is the city with the most 420-friendly stays this year, followed by Burlington, VT and Las Vegas, NV. But it turns out that we here in Hampton Roads also have a couple of highly 420-friendly cities.
Norfolk is listed at position 14 on the list, and offers a unique blend of urban excitement and coastal charm. What sets Norfolk apart as a 420-friendly destination is its relaxed attitude towards cannabis culture. Travelers can find a variety of accommodations that cater to cannabis enthusiasts, from cozy boutique hotels to spacious Airbnb rentals. Many of these establishments offer amenities specifically tailored to the needs of cannabis users, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
In addition to its welcoming accommodations, Norfolk boasts a range of attractions and activities perfect for 420-friendly travelers. From sprawling parks and picturesque beaches to cannabis-friendly events and tours, there’s no shortage of ways to relax and unwind in this vibrant city.
The surf, sand, and cannabis of Virginia Beach is at position 32 on the list. Just a short drive from Norfolk, this coastal destination is renown for its pristine beaches and lively boardwalk. While Virginia Beach may not be as overtly cannabis-friendly as its neighbor to the west, it still offers plenty of options for travelers looking to enjoy their favorite herb during their stay. From cannabis-friendly hotels to beachfront rentals with private balconies, there are accommodations to suit every taste and budget in Virginia Beach.
So which is the ultimate 420-friendly Hampton Roads destination? When it comes to choosing between Norfolk and Virginia Beach for your vacation, there are a few key factors to consider. While Norfolk may offer a more laid-back atmosphere and a wider range of cannabis-friendly accommodations, Virginia Beach boasts stunning beaches and a bustling boardwalk that can’t be beaten. Ultimately, the best destination for you will depend on your individual preferences and travel style.
Wherever you choose to vacation, it’s important to consume responsibly to ensure both your safety and the enjoyment of your trip.
First and foremost, familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations surrounding marijuana use to avoid legal issues. Always consume in designated areas and respect non-smoking zones. Moderate your intake, especially if trying new products or strains, as the effects can vary significantly.
Avoid driving or engaging in activities that require full alertness and coordination after consumption. Consider the impact of secondhand smoke on others and choose consumption methods that minimize exposure, such as edibles or vaporizers. Being mindful of these guidelines will help ensure that your experience is safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone involved, and help everyone have a great time.
